Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 SP2 and Support for Hosting Exchange (updated)

Microsoft has recently announced that multi-tenant hosting using GAL Segmentation and the Address Book Policy functionality in Exchange Server 2010 SP2 will be a supported configuration. This change in position was driven by the loud and clear feedback from service providers that the /hosted mode option introduced in SP1 was not a viable solution for commercial multi-tenant hosting, as noted in the August 30th Exchange Team Blog entry.

The upcoming release of Exchange Server 2010 SP2 is therefore a key milestone for abridean's clients, both for those service providers that have already deployed Exchange 2010 using GAL Segmentation and those that have remained on Exchange 2007 waiting for an appropriately supported solution. Abridean will be supporting Exchange 2010 SP2 on its release.

Update: Microsoft has announced in an October 13 Exchange Team Blog entry that /hosted mode will not be supported beyond Exchange 2010 and no additional functionality will be added to /hosted mode. Going forward Microsoft will be supporting multitenant hosting in a similar fashion to what is being introduced with Exchange 2010 SP2.
